I have always been a Star Wars guy. I have seen all the movies and can tell you all about the characters and planets. The only Star Trek movie I had seen was the one where they have to save the whales, which is why it is was the only one. That all changed in 2009 with J. J. Abrams’s Star Trek reboot. If you missed it, you won’t need to see it to enjoy this film, but it could fill some gaps for you. This is a film you are going to want to see in the theaters! But skip on the 3D upcharge. I watched about 20 minutes on a three dimensional screen and it was blurry and poorly rendered. It is a shame because the special effects are amazing! I was so immersed I didn’t once wonder if a scene was CGI or green screen. But what ever effect that makes any light source look like a solar flare really needs to be toned down JJ, just sayin’.
